A large citrusy tart sour juicy dense rough-skinned russet. Very good flavorful late fall dessert quality. Good cooking. Could be an excellent cider apple. Another Snee Anthony discovery. About 30 years ago she rescued the apple from near the famous old haunted house on Route 52. The ancient tree is gone but fortunately she gave us scionwood and we grafted a tree now thriving at the Maine Heritage Orchard. Still not conclusively identified. For now we call it Lincolnville Russet, though we’ve narrowed it down to three old obscure Mainers: Banana Russet, Monstrous Russet or possibly even Jerry Brown (not that Jerry Brown).
