‘Burgundy’ Curly Willow

Salix × pendulina f. erythroflexuosa Up to 30' tall × 15-30' wide. This curly willow is the fastest growing of the three varieties with a more upright growing habitat. The squiggly branches are a gorgeous auburn color. It grows up to 6 feet a year at Dandy Ram Farm in Monroe, ME after being coppiced while dormant. Great for a quick-growing and funky living fence, used in floral design or as wreath bases. Can be coppiced each year or left to grow into tall corkscrew trees. Prefers wet soils. Plant cuttings directly into thawed wet spring soil, leaving only a couple inches above ground to sprout. Can also be easily rooted in water or potting soil indoors. May take up to 2 years to put on significant growth. Z4. (12" cuttings)
