Malus spp.
This is a twig for grafting. Early fall, red-striped skin.

Fameuse seedling. Montreal, Canada, 19th c. or possibly much earlier.

An iconic striped all-purpose apple that is immediately recognizable once you know it. Medium-large round-oblate fruits are pale yellow washed and marbled with bright red and overlaid with striking dark red stripes. Crisp juicy tender fine-grained flesh is tart with a hint of lemon. Recommended for dessert, pies or sauce.

Ripens over a period of several weeks in September and keeps a few weeks. Red St. Lawrence was discovered in Newburgh, ME, as a sport (mutation) of this variety. Blooms midseason. Z3.
