ES 2-1-9. Swenson intro, MN, 2001.

Small to medium clusters of nearly black fruit with moderate sugars and slightly high acids produce an excellent dry complex aromatic red wine with good body. Often used for blending with Frontenac or other reds known for higher sugars. Varietals should be aged for two years in the bottle.

Very hardy strong vigorous upright vines can produce bountiful crops. Named after the town near the Richelieu River in southern Québec where vintner Gilles Benoît of Vignoble des Pins is making high-quality wine from the variety. Hardy to about –30°. Very disease resistant. Zone 4.
