Red Jade Crabapple

Malus spp. 12-15' x 15-20' Chance seedling of M. floribunda ‘Exzellenz Thiel’, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, NY, 1953.

Magnificent, fully weeping, dense and finely branched. The combination of yellow-green foliage, pink buds and single white (actually faint pink) blossoms has a magical, almost surreal effect. Changes day after day as more buds open and the greens and pinks merge and soften to white. Small red fruit popular with birds. Glossy vibrant green foliage.

Using long stakes and judicious pruning, we’ve trained our tree to begin weeping at 7'. The arching branches rise to 10' and hang to the grass. The spread is about 12'. Z4. Maine Grown. (Standard: 3–6' bare-root trees)
