Prunus spp.
Late summer.

Standard (Tragedy × Sugar) × Stanley. Tested as NY 58.900.9. Originally named Kenmore; trademarked as NY9. Cornell Research Foundation NY 2003.

New freestone dessert and processing prune plum. Dark purple fruit averages 1½" × 3½". Very good quality yellow-green flesh. Ripens about the same time as Stanley.

Discovered as a young seedling in one of the New York State Fruit Testing nurseries in 1971 by plant breeder John P. Watson. A cross between Stanley and an old sweet and juicy 1911 Luther Burbank introduction called Standard. Finally released 32 years later.

Resembles Stanley with notable improvements in productivity, disease resistance and pest tolerance. Partially self-fertile but yields best when paired with another European plum. Zone 4.
