Prunus salicina
Late summer, purple skin, purplish red flesh.

Prunus salicina of unknown parentage. Selected by Luther Burbank in about 1920. Introduced by Stark Brothers Nursery, Louisiana, MO, 1929. 

Very large slightly heart-shaped high-quality dessert fruit. Thin tart skin is marbled and blotched with purple and green. Purplish-red flesh is soft, juicy and very sweet—absolutely delicious. Freestone.

Plant with another Japanese types or any of the hybrid plums for pollination. The more varieties nearby, the better the chance of getting a decent crop. Broad spreading tree. Not as hardy as the hybrids. Zone 4.
