Fragaria × ananassa

Early-Mid. NY 1409 (Vibrant × Holiday) NY Stn, 1979.

Folks pronounce it honey-oy. Tough, hardy, vigorous, extremely productive and easy to grow. The freezer-filler of the strawberry patch. Produces large conic bright red fruit over a long fruiting season. Firm flesh with tart—and surprisingly good—flavor. Excellent freezing quality. Probably the most popular commercial berry in the Northeast. Susceptible to verticillium wilt. Z3/4.
