Bred by Currier McEwan, legendary Maine hybridizer based in Harpswell, a pioneer in iris breeding who brought many award-winning varieties to market. This was all accomplished in his later years after he retired from practicing medicine. When he passed away at 101 years old, he was the eldest resident of Harpswell. Don’t let anyone tell you gardening isn’t good for you. This cultivar won the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, 1996. Zone 3.
