Lavender-pink buds followed by fragrant double light violet blue-tinted flowers on very large open pyramidal panicles. Columnar vase-shaped medium-thick growing habit. Suckers very little if at all.
Blooms slightly later than another “blue” lilac, President Lincoln. Dark green foliage.
Named for the French politician Jules Grevy, president from 1879–87, distinguished for minimizing presidential power, confirming the establishment of the Third Republic, opposing French colonialism and opposing the demands for revenge against Germany following the Franco-Prussian War.
