Symphyotrichum novae-angliae

Grand heights of 4-6' tall!

Late-blooming native wildflower with freely branching sprays of blue-purple to lavender-pink blossoms with yellow eyes. Smooth blue-green foliage.

Asters add hardy grace to the back of the wild border and will naturalize on banks or in the meadow. Cut back slightly in early to mid June to induce an abundance of 1½– 2" rayed blooms from late August into October, providing important late-season nectar to hungry pollinators. Deer usually don’t eat them (except when they do!).

They prefer light moist humusy soil in full sun with good air circulation, but are quite adaptable to a wide range of conditions. Plant 12–18" apart. Native to North America. Zone 3.

Maine Grown.
