Orders placed on or before March 7 will ship around March 26 through late April, starting with warmer areas and finishing in colder areas. Orders placed after March 7 will ship around late April through early-to-mid May, in the order in which they were received. Sorry, we cannot expedite these orders, add to existing orders or combine orders. NOTE: Scionwood and early rootstock orders ship around March 10.

Bulk pricing on large orders:

Orders with subtotals $1,200 and above receive bulk pricing. Bulk prices will automatically be applied.

If you have placed orders totaling at least $1,200 at Fedco within the past 12 months, additional orders qualify for bulk pricing.

Elderberry Seedling American Black Elderberry

Sambucus canadensis 6-12' × same. Each one is grown from cold-hardy seed and will be a totally unique plant.

Some of our best plants grew from batches of such seedlings. We have one that outgrew all of our other elders and provided huge amounts of berries in its second year. Z3. Maine Grown. (1–3' shrubs)

Additional Information

American Black Elderberry

This species is native to North America. Hardier than the European Sambucus nigra, and fruits on first-year wood.

Elderberries

Considered self-fertile but multiple plants will improve fruit set—it’s okay to mix species.

Plant 4–6' apart. Best in rich soil but adaptable to a variety of soil types. In spring, while plant is still dormant, prune away any weak, broken or dead canes.
