Malus spp.
Fall-winter, russeted yellow-green skin, greenish white flesh.

Essex County, England, before 1800. A distinctive late season storage apple.

When first picked the skin is tough and the greenish-white flesh is hard, tart, almost inedible. But after a few months of storage they develop an extraordinary spicy cinnamon-nutmeg flavor and are delightful for fresh eating.

Medium-sized oblong knobby ribbed fruit is yellowish green with rough brown russet patches.

Trees are naturally disease resistant and have been proven to tolerate late frosts, poor soils and windy salty air (think Maine’s coast); the trade-off is they are relatively slow growing. Blooms midseason. Z4.

(Standard: 3–6' bare-root trees)
