30-60' Very attractive specimen tree with bushy frosty blue needles. Excellent for privacy screens, as it is fast growing after 3'. A beautiful stand of blue spruce is on Rt. 139 in Benton, on the east side of the Sebasticook River.
Plant in full sun to part shade. Does not like wet soil. Extra spring nitrogen will improve the blue color, which doesn’t appear vividly for the first few years. Considered to be one of the most drought-tolerant spruces after its established. Something to consider for a warming Northeastern property. Native to western U.S. Zone 2.
