(24% total P₂O₅, 28% Ca) The highest available phosphate of any non-animal source; only guano and bone char carry more. Formed from ancient marine deposits in the southern U.S., this granular free-flowing material works with any spreader type.
The 12% available phosphate handily outcompetes other rock phosphates: four times the available P of Tennessee brown and 70% more than Fertoz, with none of Fertoz’s heavy metal concerns that complicated use on certified-organic farms. Where bone char releases more phosphate up front, Granulated Rock Phosphate releases more slowly, which gives roots time to intercept nutrients before oxidation can occur, and ties up fewer cation nutrients like calcium, magnesium and potassium. Applications can last five years or longer depending on soil conditions.
Phosphates trigger root branching, improving access to other nutrients; support stronger flowering and seed set; and help plants manage cold and drought stress. Cannot burn roots, so it may be applied generously to transplants and bare rootstock.
Apply based on soil test. Without a test, if you have reason to believe phosphorus is low, suggested spreading rate is 12–90#/1000 sq ft.
