4–6' tall.
Elegant towering native wildflower sends up large 9" flower spikes of densely clustered tiny white blossoms that open from the bottom up beginning in midsummer. Long bloom time. Lance-shaped leaves form whorls on rugged upright stems that rarely need staking. Admiral butterflies and many bees and wasps love this flower. Adds beautiful architecture to the back of the perennial border and is a requirement in any well-built rain garden.
Plant 2' apart in full sun or part shade, in well-drained soil; prefers moist soil but is adaptable. Native southern Canada to central and northeastern U.S. Zone 3.
