Oriental Poppy
Breathtaking clump-forming perennial features finely cut bristly frosty-green leaves and shimmering crepe-paper blossoms that give way to unique signature seedpods that are an essential component in late-season bouquets and dried arrangements.
The poppy has a long relationship with humankind, used medicinally across Eurasia for millennia. The oriental poppy has long been culturally significant across the Middle East, and to this day remains a symbol of heritage and political resistance among many communities and cultures. Westerners know it best as a symbol of remembrance after Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, A Canadian physician and soldier, described the red poppy growing among the field graves of WWI in his poem “In Flanders Field” in 1915.
