Midsummer, bright orange skin.

HW405 [Rouge du Roussillon x NJA2 (Morden 604 x o.p.)] Harrow Stn, Ontario, 1979. Small-medium bright orange ovate fruit with a glossy red blush. Very firm moderately juicy freestone flesh has good flavor. 

Spreading productive tree with medium vigor and good disease resistance to brown rot and perennial canker. Somewhat resistant to bacterial spot. Late blooming. May be hardy in tropical areas of Zone 4. Z4/5.

Apricots Prunus armeniaca

Apricots are native to central Asia and have been cultivated there for about 4000 years. Although trees are very hardy, large crops of fruit have been dicey in Maine because bloom time is so early. Consider planting them with northern exposures to delay flowering and improve chances of fruit set. The zone rating should be viewed as an approximation because much depends on your site. As climate changes, we’re seeing good crops on later-blooming varieties in our region; planting apricots seems more worthwhile these days. Please let us know if you’ve had success.

  • Soil: Prefers well-drained fertile soil.
  • Sun: Full.
  • Pollination: Self-pollinating.
  • Spacing: 15-20' apart.

Shipping

Items from our perennial plants warehouse ordered on or before February 20 will ship from March through early May, starting with warmer areas and finishing in colder areas.

Orders placed after February 20 will ship from April to May.
