Zabergau Reinette Apple Scionwood

Zabergau Reinette Apple Scionwood

This is a twig for grafting. Winter. Hausen on the Zaber, Württemberg, Germany, 1885. One of the most famous of all European heirlooms.

Very large, round-conic, sometimes lopsided greenish-bronze russeted fruit with a red-orange blush. Quite visible light whitish russet spots cover the entire fruit.

Excellent fresh eating and good for cooking. Firm white fine-grained flesh and nutty sweet-sharp flavor. Fruity with hints of raspberry! Keeps well until midwinter and sweetens up during storage. Blooms midseason. Z4.

Additional Information

The deadline for ordering scionwood is February 19, 2021, for shipment around March 15.

We sell scions (scionwood) in two ways.
Each single 8" stick will graft 3 or 4 trees, and comes with a small paper ID label.
Scionwood by the foot (minimum order of 10 feet) will usually graft about 6 or 8 trees from one foot of scionwood.
You can graft right away or store it for later use. Stored properly, it will keep quite well for several weeks.

Scions are twigs, not trees. They have no roots and will not grow if you plant them.
