‘Fantin Latour’ Rose

Rosa carolina 5-7' x 3-5' Bunyard, UK, 1945. Reintroduction of unknown origin, but thought to be a very old cultivar.

Very double (quartered), extremely fragrant classic soft pink flat 3½" rose with a darker pink center. Blooms late spring and reminds us of Maiden’s Blush. Tall upright once-blooming shrub has moderate thorns.

Named after Ignace Henri Joseph Theodore Fantin-Latour (1836-1904), a French painter of incredibly delicious flower portraits. It is said that he took ill and died in his rose patch—this rose is a literal knockout! Z4. (9-18" bare-root plants)
