All American Crabapple

Malus 15-18' x 12' Parentage unknown. Troy, Maine.

Solid red buds open to pure red single blooms. Bronze-green foliage turns medium-green as it matures. Simple oval form. Cranberry-red pea-sized fruit may be persistent—we’re not sure since the birds nab them all in late fall. Grower Delton Curtis found this tree growing on the side of the road in Troy. He stopped and asked the owner if he could cut a scion. The owner said he picked it up at a local nursery, but it’s unclear who named this tree or if it was actually just a seedling. So far, it doesn’t match any other crab we have growing, so it’ll keep this name for now! Z4. Maine Grown. (Semi-dwarf: 2½-5' bare-root trees)
