Heliopsis helianthoides

3–5' tall. Also called False Sunflower, Eastern Ox-eye and Ox-eye Sunflower.  Northeast native wildflower is great for wild places and informal borders, where it attacts all manner of pollinators and provides fall forage for birds when it goes to seed. Bright golden-yellow 3" flowers on long sturdy stems resemble small sunflowers. Durable and showy, it blooms from July through September.

Plant it off on its own, or with other vigorous perennials—it has the ability to crowd out its neighbors. Likes full sun and heat, tolerates wet conditions, is generally adaptible. Plant 24" apart. Z3.
